On May 13th, Apex Fencing Academy will host our annual end-of-the-season tournament at Middle Creek Community Center. This year we’re offering youth events in Y10 Mixed Foil, Y12 Mixed Foil, and Y10/Y12 Mixed Epee. For the teens and adults there will be Senior Mixed Foil & Senior Mixed Epee events. We will also offer separate Senior Women’s Foil and Epee.
Traditionally, this has been a very well attended tournament drawing fencers from around the state. We purposefully keep it unsanctioned to offer the lowest barrier of entry while encouraging all fencers to take part. That being said, we plan to keep the quality high with good referees and awards for the top 4 fencers in each event. While ratings won’t be on the line, bragging right will be, so bring your A-game.
Are you new to fencing? You’ll be welcomed. Already a competitor? You’ll raise the bar for everyone else. Collegiate fencer? Come out and join in too. In short, if you love fencing, you’re welcome to come fence!
If you’re not a fencer, but you’re interested in fencing (or maybe your child is), you’re welcome too. Events start at 9:00 AM and last throughout the day. There’s no admission fee so stop in, meet some parents, meet some fencers, and watch the sport of fencing. If you like what you see, we offer classes for all ages year round and summer camps for kids & teens in partnership with the Town of Cary Parks & Recreation Department.
You can help create an even better event by signing up early. Not only do early registrations attract more competitors, they allow us to plan, schedule and staff appropriately. So go ahead, sign up today on askFRED.
We hope to see you May 13th!
