2016 Summer Camps Are Underway

2016 Competative Fencing Camp Last week we held our first fencing camp for the summer. We had a great group of kids that were really fired up about learning to fence. The 1/2 day camp focused on the basics of foil fencing with an emphasis on fun and games. It makes me feel great to see the kids having fun together, staying active and learning the sport I love! I hope we see at least of few of these young ones return when regular classes resume in the fall.

This week the focus has been on our competitive fencers, several of which will be going to Summer Nationals next week. Coach Joe Alter, a former UNC foilest and now assistant coach, is helping them get ready for Nationals as well as next season. While it is competitive, there’s still time for games too! Team spirit was higher than ever, we made new friends, and were sad to see them leave. Thank you Paul and Hippo for joining us, enjoy the rest of your travels in the USA.

We’re hosting 1/2 day and full day summer camps throughout the summer, so if you missed these two, there are other chances to make friends, have fun, and learn the sport of fencing.

All camps are offered in partnership with the Town of Cary Parks & Recreation Department and are held at Middle Creek Community Center.
