Classes
After your 1st few classes, expect to be sore. Fencing requires that you use and work a new set of muscles. Don’t let the sore muscles discourage you. Once you get through the 1st few classes it all gets better.
Expect to be poked by a blade. Until students develop a soft touch, practicing drills can be a little painful. After few classes your body will adjust. However, if you are still sensitive, you can get chest protectors that really helps.
A student should expect to take the same session 2-3 times. Our classes are progressive and may need to be repeated before a fencer can move on to the next level. The student needs to have a strong foundation in the basic skills before they start learning more advanced skills.
Competition
Things you will need by your 1st competition:
- USFA Membership
- At least 2 electric blades
- At least 2 working body cords (and mask cords if fencing foil)
- Complete Fencing uniform (mask, glove, plastron, jacket, lame, knickers, long Socks, shoes, chest protector / cup)
- Fencing bag
- Winning attitude
